CONGRATULATIONS TO CHRIS HEMSWORTH 'BAFTA ORANGE RISING STAR 2012 NOMINEE'

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced their first round of nominees for the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award which recognizes the best up-and-coming actors and actresses in film.  Chris Hemsworth has made the nominating list this year being 1 out of 8 actors.

If Hemworth wins, the 'Snow White and the Huntsman' cast will boast two winners.  Kristen Stewart was the 2010 winner.  Although, Stewart gave 'Twilight' fans all the credit for her win, her impressive resume is what obtained the nomination for her and her win.

Stewart's recent release of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1' is huge at the box office and has broke records in the UK along with its strongest showing in foreign markets out of all the 'Twilight films.  Stewart has two highly anticipated movies being released in the next few months: Kerouac's 'On the Road' and SWATH.  See her BAFTA acceptance speech below.

Hemsworth is on a similar path.  Not only has he starred in the unexpected box office hit 'Thor', he will have two movies released in the next few months as well.  The remake of 'Red Dawn' and the highly anticipated 'The Avengers'.  Hemsworth has also teamed up with one of Hollywood's great directors, Ron Howard for his movie 'Rush'.

Other 2012 nominees are: Adam Deacon, Felicity Jones, Tom Hiddleston, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Dowd, Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne.  A sample of their work can be seen here.

This initial round of voting is open to its members which cuts the list down to the final 5 nominees.  Then the final round is open to the voting public (UK only).

Making his silver screen debut with a small part in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, it was being cast as the title character in Thor that marked Chris as a star in the making – reflected in his ranking in the ‘the new A-list’ by the Hollywood Reporter in 2010.

With The Avengers, the sequel to Thor, on the cards for 2012, as well as Snow White and the Huntsman, playing opposite Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, it’s clear that Chris has established himself as a new force to be reckoned with.
